Hello to those of you who are using this forum, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

When this forum was suggested on "the mailing list" and on the CoCo Facebook group, it seemed to stir up some controversy. The examples of all the forums that tried and failed were brought up. The idea of "dividing the community" was brought up.

However, the idea of this forum was brought up by a few people who saw some potential benefit or merit to it, and it was created with those people in mind. My only regret, is not having more time to spend here.

What defines the "success" of something? Are there "magic" numbers that indicate the success of a forum? Do we need to have X members with Y posts per day?

I don't think so. If two people use this, and it serves any benefit to even two people, then it's serving it's purpose.

Do we already have to post to several places? If you have your own blog, you have to post there, you'd then probably want to promote on Facebook, possibly "the list" and maybe even twitter. Are any of those "divisions"?

I don't know, I think the people who are here already "get it" and I'm not trying to preach to the choir, I guess I just want to say "thank you" for those who are using the forum, and I hope it's providing some form of benefit to you.

CoCo Forever!

Thanks Stevie,

I´m one that thinks a forum is always a good idea.
Hopefully soon I bring some of my ideas here because FB is more like a chat/discord channel and while good for news, it is horrible when looking for past info.

The controversy of a "divided community" makes no sense to me. While it is logically interesting and utopic to have stuff centralized, to HAVE stuff in the first place is always more important.

Thanks again for creating this forum,

Facebook sucks. There is no way to use it as an information archive which is something a forum does very well. In addition, it is impossible for hundreds of users to have hundreds of simultaneous discussions that are available to everyone at the same time on facebook. Something that is simplicity itself on a forum.

I have no idea whatsoever what the appeal of facebook is. It seems to be ephemeral and only pertinent to the moment. Unless, of curse, you're facebook selling your users data to others for illegal uses...

Anyone using facebook needs their head examined IMHO.

That said ... there seems to be little activity on this here forum.

Chirp ... chirp, chirp ...

Anybody out there?

OK just got woke up by the crickets to the last reply. Yeah, I did mention I won't be on here too much, but I am today, so hello, and thank you to those who replied.
