Hello (and introducing myself)...

Postby WozzyCat » Wed Oct 25, 2017 7:37 pm

Hi there, my name is Perry (username WozzyCat).
I got my first CoCo, a pre-owned Tandy CoCo 3 128K back in 1987, (but my first home computer was a pre-owned Commodore VIC-20 in 1985). I gained exposure to computers starting in the early to mid 1980's with TRS-80 Model III computers and also Apple IIe computers as a student in elementary and junior high. And I also played around with computers at various stores in malls and also at dedicated computer stores during that same time frame.....mostly Commodore 8 bitters, Atari 8 bitters, Apple 8 bitters, and of course Tandy/Radio Shack 8 bitters. And I essentially ended up choosing to get a CoCo....because...most of the people who I knew to be "into" computers in my rural area at that time, were CoCo owners...and I surmise that was because Radio Shack stores were so plentiful at that time. Somewhat related: My first soldering iron (which I still have) was an Archer (Radio Shack brand), which I bought at about the same time as I bought my CoCo 3.

I am "into" a number of different retro-computing platforms these days, but I will say this, I suppose I have the most affection or whatever one wants to call it, for the 1977 Trinity of microcomputer brands.....Radio Shack (Tandy), Apple, and Commodore, since those are the three brands I was most exposed to during the 1980's both in elementary/junior high/high school, as well as at home.

I currently have a CoCo 3 (though not the one I owned back in the late 1980's to mid 1990's). I also have a CoCo 2, a grey case CoCo 1....and one of them somewhat unique full white case 64K CoCo 1 models as well. Apple II computers are also in my stable, and I recently acquired a Commodore 128. I guess I am a collector, but ALSO a user of the computers in my personal collection.

I also happen to have a small Atari Jaguar system collection...and I suppose I could say I am a fan of Microsoft's XBOX platform when it comes to modern day gaming, and I eagerly await/anticipate the day when CoCo classics such as Color Baseball and Donkey King/The King make their way onto the Xbox Live store.

Anyways, the above is a little introduction about me (though not all inclusive). :-)
