Hello World!

Post general discussions and forum/category suggestions here. You may also want to do a quick post to let everyone know who you are, and what brought you here.

Hello World!

Postby ogsteviestrow » Mon Sep 18, 2017 11:31 pm

So this is the first post in the standard forum that gets created when you install phpBB as a forum site.
I know absolutely nothing about setting up or running a forum site, but it was suggested and requested, and we're going to try our darndest to make this work.

Glen Hewlett came up with the idea of a forum, where conversations can remain structured, and threaded, and not lost, like on Facecbook, and hopefully, files can also be uploaded/attached, so it could also serve as a repository.

So we went to town setting it up and trying a few things out.
September 19th, after 11 PM and dwindling into the 1 AM time frame, we toiled with the interface, back end settings, and to a lesser degree, some of the actual web hosting settings. Still have much to learn, and probably more to tweak, but big thanks go out to David Ladd and Mark Overholser who were with me in the maiden voyage and pilot run of setting this thing up.

Hopefully, with a little work, and time, it won't suck.

Sincerely,

Steve Strowbridge

Well the forums are slowly coming along. It will be a little bit while the topics, category groupings, and other permissions get figured out.

I will try to work more on this later tonight after my clubs meeting.

Hey David,

The forums look great! What is left to do? Permission related stuff maybe?

Cheers,
Glen

So far things are looking pretty good, thanks David Ladd aka PacoOtaktay for setting up the forum structure and creating our initial topics. good job, remind me to pay you one day, not much, but a little something to say thank you, and perhaps get you something very inexpensive at Taco Bell perhaps.

Hey!!! Is this Thing On???
Good Job David!!!! Looking Good......

I will add my CoCo Resume here:
I got my first CoCo, a CoCo 3 in the Summer/Fall of 2012, from a guy that I bought a Platinum Apple ][e with monitor and Software.. He had received the CoCo 3 as part of a Correspondence Course that was never started, so the CoCo3 was NIB, but the outer Box was pretty Scuffed Up by being shipped many places over 30 year..

I had never worked with the CoCo, but I had programmed a Heath Kit, Hero I Robot with the 6808, so I knew the 68xx family is quite similar to the 65xx used used in the Apple ][s and Commodores.. And the MC6809 seemed like a pretty cool processor to get into...

So, Five years later and I have that CoCo 3, a 64K Extended BASIC CoCo 2, a 16K Standard BASIC CoCo2, ( that I replaced the MC6809 with the HD6309 ), and a 4K Standard BASIC CoCo 1 that came as a "free", "non working" computer with the 16K CoCo 2, but worked fine when I received it, and last December ( 2016 ), added the 64K Dragon by Tano.

I also have Two MPIs. a very nice FD-500 with very little usage, and a FD-500 that needs a new Drive, but could use a little newer FDC's and the RS-232 Pack.

I also bought Two of the CoCoSDCs from Zippster's First Run, and I just bought Two of Zippster's, CoCoPSGs..

I am also looking forward to getting John W. Linville's CoCoGMC's...

Quick test to make sure I am live. (tap tap - is this thing on). I won't have much time (yet) to participate, but putting up a test message is at least a start, eh?

Thanks for your effort here. I hope it takes off! I love the Facebook community, but a forum, it is not. I hope Facebook users will make this part if the daily routine. I would love to see some, excellent artwork for the header here. Also some off topic forums for other Tandy platforms, specifically Tandy 1000 or other Tandy MSdos platforms.
